Toyota's FREE Teen Driver Safety Clinic * #TEENDRIVE365

Toyota has created a FREE program to educate both teens and parents about Teen Driver Safety. The main point of this program is for teens to get a first handle glimpse at what it's like to be a safe driver versus what could happen when you are distracted while driving. They have many locations that are hosting this program throughout the country. You can find out if there is one local to you by clicking HERE.

When I first started driving, we weren't in the age of smartphones, GPS devices, touch screen radios, etc. I was in a different age. Flip phones (and even beepers) were still the in thing and if you had a Blackberry you were basically pretty much rich in everyone's book. So I didn't necessarily have to worry too much about these devices as I never owned any.

However, I do know for a absolute fact that when my daughters become of age to drive, they will most likely be distracted drivers. One thing I have made sure to NEVER do is use my phone or any other device while driving in front of them. If I need to use it, I use it before I even move the vehicle or simply wait until we get to our next destination. In most cases, it's my husband driving though, so if his phone happens to ring while he is driving, he hands it over to me and I answer it. Our goal as parents is to keep our kids as safe as possible. Accidents can happen at any moment. Knowing that they see us being safe while we drive only encourages them to do the same when they get of age to be behind the wheel.

Although this program doesn't have a location local enough to me to go to, I can only hope by the year 2020 that they do, so that when my oldest daughter starts driving, she and I both can attend this together. I think we both can benefit from it.
